“I like making stuff. As a kid, I would look at the fashion catalogues from the stores and dream away; How can I make that myself? I would buy Burda Style Magazine and start playing around with just making changes to the patterns provided in the magazine. I also didn’t have much money, so this was just a way of making clothes for myself that I wanted, but couldn’t afford. There were trial and errors, and it taught me a lot.
In the mid 80’s I made block color windbreakers and baggy sweatpants for friends and relatives. I still have a peach color puffer jacket with leather trimming at the sleeves and collar, it’s so cute. From there on it was a natural move to attend fashion school, where I learned to transition the designs into collections, pattern making and fashion illustration.
Living in Italy, was my first lesson in, and love for style. From then on, it’s been evolving through my work and experience with fashion illustration art and apparel. It’s really a never ending love for cool and pretty things.”
Traveling and with the experience of living in different countries, Lovisa has cultivated an international understanding of cultural diversity and style, which reflects in her work. She's created her own work life balance by juggling projects with family, on the North Shore of Maui, Hawaii.
